Supporting St. James

The following is a list of volunteer opportunities to look over.  We will have sign-up sheets available at the first 2 PTO meetings.  Please contact Michele Berube if you are would like to volunteer for any of these opportunites.

Reading Parent

This only takes one or two hours a week.  We ask that you come up to the school to listen to children read.  This is a good opportunity to spend one-on-one time with your child’s classmates.

Auction Committee Volunteers

This is our largest fundraiser for the year.  We will need a lot of volunteers for decorating, solicitations and set-up.

Chaperones

We need you for Elementary Field trips.

Friday Fun Lunch

We need 2 people to help coordinate the distribution of the food.

Uniform Re-Sale

We need 2 people to coordinate our uniform re-sale.  We try to do this twice yearly: once at the beginning of the school year and once at the end.

Spirit Item Sales

We need 2 people to coordinate the sale of our logoed T-shirts, coffee mugs, water bottles…We generally set-up a little “Spirit Store” during some of the following events: Picnics, Open House, Grandparents Day…

Thanksgiving Feast

We need several parents to help with the coordination of the Feast.  Anything from purchasing the food and drinks to making plates of food.

McCree Espirit

Is a mini fall carnival hosted by the churches on McCree Road.  It takes place on the grounds of St. James Episcopal Church and is great publicity for the school and a ton of fun.  The school in coordination with the Church will set up a bounce house or carnival game.  We need volunteers to take shifts during this fun-filled event.

Dad’s Club

Is a wonderful opportunity for Dad’s to participate and share in the volunteer programs of the school.  These include grilling, set-up, heavy lifting and other “manly” duties.

Room Parent

As a Room Parent you will be asked to host classroom celebrations and assist with classroom activities as requested by the teacher, PTO or Head of School.  The PTO Room Parent Coordinator will give you a quick synopsis of how it works and will provide you with a sign-up sheet for each party (Halloween, Christmas, Valentines).

We also would like you to help with the coordination of the Classroom Auction project, the Christmas fundraiser and the Teacher and Assistant Teacher’s Birthday’s.  You will be responsible for recruiting volunteers to help you with the above tasks and to delegate to your volunteers as you see fit.
