SCRIPS is a term that means, “substitute money.” When you take part in the Scrips Program, you are purchasing a gift card/gift certificate that has been issued in a participating retailer’s name. These gift cards/gift certificates are used the same as cash. We all already shop at the national and local retailers participating in Scrips. So why not purchase your gift cards/gift certificates through our Scrips Program ahead of time and take them with you on your next shopping trip. Most of the gift cards/gift certificates can also be used when on-line shopping! Remember your gift card/gift certificate is the same as cash.
AND NOW FOR THE BEST PART - When you join the Scrips Program, a Tuition Reduction Account will be assigned to your family. For each gift card/gift certificate you purchase, the specified discount percentage (varies with each retailer) will be calculated and applied to YOUR Tuition Reduction Account. To begin, each family has to raise $25 (each school year) through the Scrips Program to cover the postage costs of the program. Once that goal is met, 100% of the continuing profit generated by your family and friends is credited toward reducing YOUR child’s tuition.
EXAMPLE: The Smith family spends $200 a week on groceries at Tom Thumb, the Scrips from Tom Thumb discounts 3%. If the Smiths bought Scrips for one year to pay for groceries at the end of that year there would be $312 in the Smith’s Tuition Reduction Account. The $287 would be deducted from tuition payments. (Remember the first $25 goes to the School to cover postage costs.)
Easy Ordering - It is very simple:
Orders will be placed on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month during the school year and available for pick up the next week from Lisa Wilson’s office. You will receive a Scrips Tuition Reduction Account Statement with each order.
Annual Tuition: If you pay tuition annually, the money in your Scrips account will be applied to your child’s tuition balance for the following year in July.
Semi-Annual Tuition: If you pay tuition semi-annually, the money in your Scrips account will be applied to your child’s tuition balance when your next tuition payment is due in July or December.
Monthly Tuition: If you participate in the F.A.C.T.S. program, the money in your Scrips account will be applied to your child’s tuition balance in December, April & July.
Before/After-School Care: If your child attends Before/After-School Care and you pay your tuition annually or semi-annually; you may elect to have the money in your Scrips account applied to your Before/After School Care balance in December & April. Please contact Lisa Wilson to use this option.
Your Scrips account balance must have a minimum balance of $25 before it will be applied to your child’s tuition balance.
If you withdraw your child from St. James Episcopal School for any reason during the school year your Scrips Tuition Reduction Account balance will transfer to the School’s Scholarship Fund immediately.
If your Scrips Tuition Reduction Account has a balance at the end of the School year, the balance will remain for the next school year. If your child does not return to St. James Episcopal School the next year, the Scrips Tuition Reduction Account balance will transfer to the School’s Scholarship Fund immediately. No refunds will be issued.
