We have several pairs of boys school pants, size 5 & 6, as well as a few red St. James shirts sized S & XS. We also have a couple white polo shirts, sized S & XS, and a pair of school shorts. Since they’re boy clothes, you know they aren’t in mint condition, but they still have some use left in them. Free to a good home.

Sir Ken Robinson: Do schools kill creativity?

Watching this lecture made me very grateful for the nurturing environment my son receives at St. James.

http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/66

Creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson challenges the way we’re educating our children. He champions a radical rethink of our school systems, to cultivate creativity and acknowledge multiple types of intelligence.

TED is a yearly conference, bringing together people from Technology, Entertainment and Design fields. The conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes). Their website includes many more inspirational and entertaining presentations.

Filter undesirable internet content on your computer with OpenDNS

I used OpenDNS to filter inappropriate internet sites and services on my son’s computer. The OpenDNS service is completely free, and the setup is very simple. It is highly customizable, allowing you to block dating, chat and social sites such as MySpace and Facebook. And you can set it up on a single computer, or a whole network of computers.

Track your missing or stolen laptop/desktop with Adeona

http://adeona.cs.washington.edu/

Installed, this program will help you track down your missing/stolen laptop or desktop. Adeona runs in the background, and works its magic by waking up at random intervals to record data about the equipment’s location and status, which it encrypts and then silently uploads to off-site storage. If your laptop (or, for that matter, your co-located server) goes missing, you can retrieve its latest records from elsewhere, learning such information as its internal and external IP address, local network configuration, and more. Armed with that info, you can call law enforcement and drastically increase the chances of recovering your laptop. If you have a mac, it can even snap photos of the person using your computer, with the built-in cam.
