The Elementary Program includes first through fourth grades. The elementary curriculum provides a sound academic foundation in the subjects of reading, language arts, mathematics, science, history and geography. The Language Program includes units in phonics, sight reading, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, sentence structure and parts of speech. Children read and discuss classic and contemporary children’s literature in group settings. Mathematics includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, as well as problem solving. It is designed to teach numeration, linear counting, skip counting, operations (memorization), measurements and fractions. Also included are fundamental concepts of geometry - lines, angles, polygons, equality, similarity, area and volume. Social Studies encompasses human relations, history, economics, government, philosophy, political behavior, anthropology and sociology. Exploration in the field of science allows for investigation of astronomy, botany, chemistry, geology and zoology. Field trips serve to round out the curriculum and allow the students to experience opportunities offered by the community.
